Running alongside the Rapid and the Congress, and at the same venue, from Thursday 6 April to Monday 10 April is the Southend Masters 2023, which is a 9-round title norm event being organised by Lance Leslie-Smith for Chess England. Last held in 2019 (depicted in our featured image above), when it was won by FM Matthew Wadsworth.
This is a high category tournament (call of interest to norm seekers 2400+/- and GMs).

Southend Easter Chess Festival
The Southend Masters 2023 is being run independently of the Southend Easter Chess Festival comprising the 3rd Southend Rapid (6 Rounds) and the 65th Southend Chess Congress (7 Rounds), so has no impact on the guaranteed minimum Prize Fund for the Rapid and the Congress. You will, however, notice that both the Festival and the Masters are included in the events in results.com via the above link, so readers can keep up to date with results in each event in the one place. The link below opens in the Southend FIDE Open; once there, just select the event(s) for which you wish to view entries, results and, in due course, pairings.
