Back on 13 March 2020 we were forced to cancel the 2020 Southend Easter Chess Congress due to the impending situation with the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, we earnestly hoped to resume the series of Southend Easter Chess Congresses in 2021.
However, as feared might be the case, a new wave is upon us and the Covid Alert level in London and the South East is currently Tier 4 – Stay at Home. The organising committee has therefore taken the decision that conditions are not safe to commit to resuming the series in 2021 and the Southend Easter Chess Congress will not take place in 2021.
It is earnestly hoped, with the rollout of the vaccine in 2021, that conditions will allow “Southend” to take place in 2022.
