In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Congress, which would have been the 64th Southend Easter Chess Congress, was cancelled on 13th March 2020 and all Entry Fees from those who had entered, have been returned.
Not long after cancellation, the venue, Southend Adult Community College, was closed until further notice, so the Congress could not have taken place anyway.
Ultimately, the UK Government announced lockdown, introducing restrictions in movements and gatherings.
