March rating lists are published

FIDE ratings revalued after rating system review

With publication of the March rating lists, many FIDE ratings have received an uplift. FIDE has been conducting a year-long review of the rating system to address “…a rating deflation resulting from prior changes in the rating system”. The results are published in the March rating list.

More details of this review are given in this news item on the FIDE website:

As a result of the FIDE rating review the “rating floor” has been raised and the 400 point rule has been reintroduced. Players’ ratings generally have been revalued with many players receiving a significant uplift to their FIDE ratings, more noticeable in the Rapid ratings. In a few cases, this comprises a change in eligibility for the rating-limited sections in the Southend Easter Chess Festival 2024. There are two such moves in the Rapid and two in the Congress. All the players affected have been notified individually.

The Entry List has been updated on the website for the March 2024 ratings; links below.

The March lists govern eligibility for rating-limited sections and will be used for pairings. Players waiting for publication of the March lists before entering have to wait no longer… enter now!

Would like to play first round on Friday and have a bye for second game Friday, hope it is not too late to make this change, thanks and please let me know either way,
