Festival off to a great start

The 2025 Southend Easter Chess Festival began on Maundy Thursday with a vibrant Rapid, the 5th in the series of Southend Rapids, with a record entry of 68, beating the previous record of 64 in 2022. All the details are on chess-results.com – just click this link.

We are delighted this year to have 30 live games, shown on chess.com and lichess.org. The top 30 boards in today’s Rapid were broadcast live and this coverage will continue over the coming Congress – Friday 18 April to Monday 21 April 2025. These will cover the Congress events FIDE open and FIDE and ECF U1900 top boards.

In addition to the 67th Congress games, all the games in the two Masters events playing at the same time and venue, are also being published on chess.com and lichess. Pick up either of these broadcasts via the links below. From these links you can find all the events where the games are broadcast from the dropdown in the Games tab, then within each event find the rounds selector. (These links will open with the GM event selected.)
