The Southend Easter Chess Festival 2024 is launched. The Festival runs from Thursday 28 March 2024 with the 4th Southend FIDE Rapid, through Friday 29th March with the start of the 7-Round 66th Southend Easter Congress, to Monday 1 April with the last round of the Congress.
The venue is unchanged, at the Southend Adult Community College.

For those who like to get their plans sorted early, there is an early entry coupon for a 5% discount – use code se24early at checkout – enter by 5 January (inclusive). There are also 5% coupons for Juniors U16 and Seniors 60+. Only one coupon per entry fee.
A complication in the 2024 schedule is that British Summer Time begins on the Sunday of the Festival with clocks going forward one hour at 1.00 am on 31st March. No problem for anyone who can master the en passant rule!
